Yoo Jae-Suk is a South Korean actor, comedian and television
comedy show host. He is nicknamed the “Nation’s MC” and is proclaimed as the
most popular Korean comedian for five consecutive years from 2004-2008. He has
hosted several popular variety show in South Korea, including Infinite
Challenge and Running Man. He is also nicknamed “Grasshopper” due to his early
appearances where he dressed as a grasshopper. He’s proven to be great at any
kind of variety, be it talk shows or gags and even reality shows, he’s able to
change the hosting style for different kinds of programmes.
Yoo Jae-Suk was born as the eldest child of three on August
14, 1972. He attended Seoul Institute of Arts, but was unable to graduate due
to his busy schedule as an up-and-coming comedian.
His television debut was on the KBS Comedian Festival in
1991. After that, he participate in many gag shows for 9 years, as a relatively
unknown comedian. But thanks to a recommendation by Choi Jin-sil, he hosted a
program called Live and Enjoy Together. This program became popular and since
then Yoo Jae-suk began to host many other programs.
Since his debut in 1991, he has win numerous awards as an MC
and comedian.
In Running man, he is known as one of the two ‘main pilars’
of Running Man (the other being Jong-Kook). He is known for his escaping
abilities and quick thinking. As a main host, he has been featured as a
protagonist in many special episodes, which presented him with a nickname
Yoo-mes Bond. He often referenced to the color green throughout the show.
